At one point from a chatroom with Richard, he was asked what the Z meant in his name--he said Sonne, but then check this:

Richard was in that terrible band too right? Hehe, he's called Sven, which you know you can pronounce with somewhat of an F or a Z, hehe... unless someone knows better, and I"m completely wrong. Hehe, yay, that's cool.

Richard's real name being Sven was finally confirmed in the Feeling B book, some excerpts. Ohh, but they are in German, maybe that's too hard...

What???? The S might eventually be pronunced a little as a Z, but what's with the F???

The F... hmmm

Sven

German (my limited knowledge on it) dictates:

S at the begining of a word is pronounced similar to the English Z

V, unless the word is from another lanugage, is pronounced similarly to the English F.

So Sven = Zfen

there ya go. :lol

Sven is a Scandinavian, Swedish name, not a originally German name, so V = V......

Yeah, I figured, or rather knew that Sven was a Scandinavian type name, but figured perhaps, just perhaps, he pronounced it with an F... further 'Germanising' it.

But that wouldn't keep in line with keeping foreign words sounding foreign, ie; v staying with the v sound.

Oh, I'll shut up now. hehe Thanks for clearing it up aisling! :D

yeah he could'uv germanized it...course when he said it meant sonne, that was after his punk days, so perhaps it's that now, oh well, at any rate, in swedish its V, ok that makes sense. But for german, it could be possbily maybe kind of F, right?

Does the nick name Scholle have any special meaning? Or is it just a name? I kind of like it

it means "clod", as in clod of earth, or, if you are British, idiot. which is so wonderfully appropriate.

Sven might be germanized and written like Swen, but the pronunciation of Sven isn't changed.

ooooh, poor poor Richard... they don't mean it. Even though I may not be a 'follower' of yours, I will console your hurt feelings. :lol Better yet, I'll borrow Sean's flamethrower and put it to some good use! LOL
