Review

This was The Thing of the year 2004. Yes, KoRn was great, Tuska 2004 was great but this was pure magic. There are already a few reviews so I'll just tell some things these other people had forgotten or just didn't mention.

Well, Exilia sucked in my opinion and I wasn't the only one but nevermind, I came to see Rammstein. The gig started out great, I was in heaven. The synths of the first couple of songs were played with the accordion-thingy and the "portable" MIDI-controller-keyboard and there were no problems there. However, problems occurred with Rein Raus, which Flake played with the "regular" synth. He played but there was no sound coming out and I saw him spreading his hands and wondering. In the end of the song he ran backstage where he stayed for a while apparently fixing the problem with the people. At this point, Schneider shouted out loud "SCHEISSE!" which is always funny. So as the problem was being taken care of, Richard started to jam with his guitar and then the others (except Flake who was backstage) joined him. I even thought for a while they were gonna play Rosenrot. No. I think they were merely improvising, Till sang something, I don't know what and then he said "danke". I think the reason he was laughing and smiling is because even with these problems and improvising the crowd was very happy and screaming and all. Well, it did sound good anyways. And then it was time for Morgenstern.

Mein Teil was a kick-ass show. Awesome. Am I pyromaniac or what, I loved the flames... And I laughed too, it's good that everything is not always so serious.

During Amerika, Flake had another MIDI-controller attached to a Segway (www.segway.com) and he was cruising around with it. The solo-part was amazing as the paper-shred was filling the air with some smoke or whatever, first bursting under Flake and then in front of the stage. Red, white and blue paper. Back home I found two pieces under my shirt, for god's sake and one in the pocket of my bag.

Los (by the way, these songs are now in a random order as I memorize them) was good, and towards the end of the song, they played it harder with distorted guitars, which was nice.

Moskau was one of the songs I was most eager to hear and it rocked. Would've been better with the russian ladies that apparently (checked the new pictures) sung in russia. And russia is so close to Finland. Too close sometimes. Anyways, Till pulled it off well and so did the crowd, at least everyone around me sung the russian parts as well. Perhaps someday I'll hear Dalai Lama too.

But the biggest and happiest surprise was Stein um Stein 'cause I had been told that it wouldn't be on the set. But it was and it was great, such a great live song.

Sonne was massive, that's another great live song.

Another problem with Ohne dich, I think. Or was it just me, but I didn't hear didley-squat of Oli's background singing. Yet I saw him sing to the mic but didn't hear anything. Even still, marvelous.

Stripped was the last one, with the boat and probably the best sequencer phrase I've ever heard. Then as the song and the show was over, Schneider threw a couple of drum sticks and the snare drum sheet in the audience, once again, I didn't get didley-squat, I never do. After that the others went through the door off the stage but Flake stayed for a while, playing his "portable" keyboard, sitting on the lift on the Richard's side of the stage, then getting off it up on the stage (seemed rather clumsy and somehow so Flake-like) and disappeared down the stairs.

Then someone said let there be light (or turned the switch) and light came. The outro was a nice halleluja-heavenly-child-choir-vocoder -version of Engel, it was loaded with warmth and grace.

Of course there were some songs I would've liked to hear, such as Herzeleid, Heirate mich, Seemann, Adios and obviously Bück dich and many more. Der Meister too but that's a very distant dream of mine. But anyhow, you can't get all you want and I am very happy with the show as it was. My words cannot express my satisfaction. This is a show that definitely deserves a multi-camera recording and a DVD-release. Hoping for a Live aus Berlin 2 from Wuhlheide.
