Review

This latest Rammstein tour is the third one I've been to ( Family Values 98 and Worcester Ma 99 ), and while honestly, it was not the best one I've seen ( simply beacuse they weren't on for long ), it was still an excellent show. The show I went to in NH was a festival, and Rammstein, to my delight, went on last, but only played a 50 min. set. Their set included Mein Herz Brennt, Links 2 3 4, Ich Will, Rein Raus, Feuer Frei, Du Hast (naturally), Buch Dich, Sehnsucht, Asche zu Asche, and Bestrafe Mich. The had the infamous burning mikes on Asche, and the sodomizing during Buch Dich. One interesting point was Flake wore a teal thong during this take. ( I believe it was to avoid another arrest, as the last time they came to MA, Till and Flake spent the night in jail due to a lewdness charge) You can almost see it in one of the pictures. There was also the a-typical explosions, fireworks, and flames during the songs. The new props included an interesting dentist chair-like hook-up for Flake's keyboard, a flaming guitar that Richard played, a fire blowing mask for Till, a red chest piece that Till pulled out and shot fireworks ( all pictured ), and stands for Paul and Richard that had water, and various rubber body parts inside, not unlike a womb.

The new songs sounded wonderful, as accurate and precise as on the cd, with some improvisations. The older songs were also performed well. I was a little disapointed to see that everyone cut their hair, and they looked reminescently punk. Till and Christoph had purple mowhawks. Richard had short spiked tip-pink hair. Flake and Paul had the same haircuts, but Pink. And Olli was still bald. Till and Richard seemed to loose some of their bulk, and all had a little less fashion flair.

The best part of the concert was after the fact when, due to an unlocked gate, I snuck in and ran into Till outside his bus. It was an outdoor venue, and all the buses and trailers were parked directly behind the stage. He was very large, but very approachable. I called out his name, and he turned and stopped. I came up to him, introduced myself, and said what an avid, salivating fan I was. I complimented him on the intensity and passion that the songs had, and how it translated into their live show. He thanked me and said he was glad it meant something to someone. I asked for an autograph, and said, of course I could have one. He signed the back of my ticket, and then asked if there was anything else he could do. I then pulled out my camera and asked if a picture was alright. He smiled and said of absolutely hun. My friend took the picture, he gave me a hug and thanked me for coming out. He said the others would probably be out later, if I wanted to wait around. And then he left. As I said, Till was very accomedating. We waited a bit longer and saw Richard and his wife. I gave the same speech to Richard and he thanked me and shook my hand. Then he said he didn't feel well, and was going to go inside the bus, and apologized for not staying out longer, so I didn't want to trouble him with a picture or autograph.

We hung around for a while longer, then, due to our long evasion of Meadowbrooke security guards, got escorted out ass-first. But, it was unreal getting to meet, even briefly, the two of them. They were very nice. Very approachable.

Anyone who sees them, give them a shout, recognize their names. I've gotten their attention several times during their performences that way. Good luck. Peace all.
