Review

Hello,

My name is David Giralt and I live in San José, Costa Rica. On December 9th, 2004, I went to Germany to visit my pals in Bochum, Kelkheim and Wolfsburg.

Of course it was an excellent opportunity to see Rammstein live for the first time and probably the last one, unless I visit Germany again or they come to Costa Rica, which I find impossible.

Anyway, my friend from Bochum got the tickets for the R+ extra gig in Dortmund, on December 12th, he got them from eBay like in July or August:

We got to the venue (Westfallenhalle) around 3 hours before the show, so the place wasn't that crowded, anyway, the opening band (Exilia), totally sucked, but I was so excited to see Rammstein that I think I was the only one there jumping around and screaming.

Anyway, after they stopped playing, I thanked God and then after 15 minutes, people were getting pissy cuz Rammstein was nowhere to be seen. But then it kicked off, the first song was Reise, Reise and damn, I had a sore throat after that one, then they did Links 2 3 4 and I kicked my friend's ass during that one, cuz I got a bit aggressive.

I don't remember the exact order of the songs, but they played these:

Du Riechst So Gut, Rammstein, Sehnsucht, Du Hast, Links 2 3 4, Sonne, Ich Will, Feuer Frei!, Rein Raus, Reise Reise, Mein Teil, Keine Lust, Los, Amerika, Moskau, Stein Um Stein, Ohne Dich and Stripped.

During Ohne Dich (I am not 100% sure if this was the song), when the song finished, they bowed and Till said "Dortmund, auf wiedersehen!", I was like "Holy crap, he spoke!", then they left and of course people was still wondering what the hell happened, then everyone started screaming "Zugabe!" and they got back to do Rammstein, I think 1 or 2 more songs and then Stripped was the last one.

I was like 50 or 60 feet away from the stage and I can tell you it gets really hot in there, I don't mean because of the people and all the jumping and shit, cuz it was a cold winter night and you could feel it even inside, but when Till started playing with his fire guns, your face gets really, really hot:

During Stripped, they did the crowd-sailing thingie with the boat, this time Oliver got on it, which was something unexpected for me, I mean, being able to touch the boat and see Oliver so close, it was just amazing, cuz well, after flying for 17 hours to Germany, even when I have a severe fear of planes and being dizzy for like 3 days after arriving in Düsseldorf, seeing Rammstein was just like a prize, it made it all worth it and I'll never forget that 1 hour with 49 minutes and 41 seconds!

After the show I still felt like I didn't have enuff and I wanted to go back in, but anyway, I got me a glass of Rammstein for 2,50€ and a poster for 5€ even when they were 3€ outside the venue (my bad), but the best thing was my Christmas present by my pal:

It has that big black spot because I got a hell of an ugly tattoo when I was 15, which I wanted to cover, I think the dude did a great job and I love my tattoo.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about the gig, and my Rammstein experience, if you haven't ever seen them live, you really should, their concerts are really full of energy, I had a terrible sore throat when I got to Germany and after the gig, guess what? It got worse, but it was worth it, and I can't wait for the next time I can see them, even if I have to fly to Germany again or if I'm able to see them in Mexico the next time they play there.

Peace and Rammstein forever!

David.
