We could hardly contain our excitement for the next show. The wait seemed to take forever, and now it was upon us......
It was a lovely hot summers day, we had been awake for 22 hours by the end of the gig but this didn't dull our singing voices!! Oh no haha.
It was great fun going to the Wuhlheide by train with the other fans, even though it had started storming and we were wearing our leather and pvc whilst the others were wearing shorts and t-shirts, well at least we made the effort tee hee!!
Our pulses were racing and hearts pumping, legs shaking with excitement.
As approaching the entrance to the stadium the walk upto it was tree lined like an avenue we couldn't help thinking of those that were here waiting for the now 'infamous' shows in 1998!
As we went through the gates the storm had abated and we dried off and there it was the stadium! We stood high above the stadium on what looked like an amphitheatre and the huge stage. We immediately noticed Apocalyptica's stage set. We then walked down the steps towards the front of the stage and it was another 2 hours before showtime.
Once again Apocalyptica were very good the set was what we remember from Nottingham. They spoke English to the fans. They got a good response from the crowd, they were singing to the 'Tallica' tracks. It seemed to go quick because not long after Apocalyptica were finished then the roadies were removing their set and everyone was getting excited.
Every movement behind the Rammstein backdrop made our stomach's flip with anticipation. The crowd started moving forward to get a better position.
Then, oh bugger! The intro to Reise Reise started through the PA system, everyone started screaming then when the lights from behind went out the roadies came out with their shirts, trousers and batons we know the amazing show that is Rammstein was imminent!
REISE REISE The music reached its crescendo and the backdrop fell, well we couldn't contain ourselves, seeing them up there was awesome and on this huge stage set. Think we must have lost our voices within the first couple of minutes through the shouting. We were all looking at the 'girly lips' (love the touch)! that Till emerges from and when this happened it was electric. Whilst Till was walking with his slow, military style steps.
LINKS 2 3 4 As soon as the intro started and Schneiders 'Doom' drumming (give it to us baby). The crowd goes mental us included, as we watch the guys march about on stage. As expected this song went down well with the fans. It was excellent singing along with the German fans the sound was amazing. Even though we were crushed and dehydrated we were buzzing on adrenaline.
KEINE LUST Keine Lust was next up with the red lights and steam, shame they didn't wear their fat suits, hehe, although one fan has said that Till has put weight on and wouldn't need to wear one, (not nice and we don't agree)! Excellent and well presented with the fans bouncing in time to the beat, we love Oli's playing on this one.
FEUER FREI Now what happens on this one? Wonder if you can tell us? hehe. Excellent again the heat from the flames was amazing nearly scorched our eyebrows. Till banged Flake on his head and he fell down, we all laughed. At one point during the song Till makes a gesture between his legs when the lyrics go ''ein funkenstoss in ihren schoss' as we have the translation we think we know where he is coming from. Schneider at the end with the bangs and sparklers on his sticks as he stood up behind his kit, just as well he didn't get his fishnets alight.
ASCHE ZU ASCHE We had already espied Richard's mic with the foil wrapped around it. So we new what was coming, ASCHE! Yeah, great one to play live to get the fans going, loads of jumping and fire and red smoke and us lot choking on the smoke that tasted vile. Very atmospheric with the sun setting and the smoke dispersing over the crowd.
MORGENSTERN White lights and us shouting 'du bist hasslich', (but truly beautiful)! Not a lot to report a great song none the less.
MEIN TEIL Well we already know what was coming so camera at the ready and everyone-else's. It was so comical with Till pulling Flake in the great cauldron wearing his chefs hat and apron with Flake bobbing up and down trying to escape the flames as Till blasts again and again after he gesticulates to the crowd 'shall I'? The big mic/carving knife that Till brandishes about him, he casually, in full view of the fans, pulls his apron to one side and with knife in hand thrusts it up and down between his legs with the fans shouting even more!! Flake manages to get out of the pot with red flares sparking from him with Till hot on his heels chasing him around the stage! Till was also prompting the fans to sing the section 'denn du bist' and then carrying on with the song...CLASSIC!!
STEIN UM STEIN Ramm... STEIN.... nuff said! Just intense, surprised Till has a voice left at the end of this!
LOS Schneider (what are you wearing)?! Snigger snigger, drool drool! Hot pants and fishnets gawd almighty so sexy and that bum! As he arrives at the front of the stage with his 'little kit' ah. Poor boy can hardly fit behind it which he looks like he has outgrown at great pace! Great song for Richard and Paul to go mad on at the end. Flake then proceeds to do his 'expected' dance and going mental and smashing his keyboard and throwing parts in the crowd. Looks like the band totally enjoyed this one as well as us!
BENZIN Well we knew it was going to be aired here first... liebe liebe liebe es! Very fast, heavy full of pyros and smoke. The band played very hard and really enigmatic probably to get their point across!!! Can't wait for the new album this year, more of the same please!
DU REICHST SO GUT The intro to this is a dead giveaway! One of my fav's and definately a crowd pleaser. Out comes Till with the the bow and arrow sparks going everywhere as well as camera flashes. Very fast and heavy love the bit that Till, Richard and Paul all do their single headbang on Paul's side of the stage in unison! Everyone shouting out the chorus, can't get enough its over with too soon especially as they play this faster than the studio version!
DU HAST Blue lighting at the beginning is the norm for this one with loads of screaming fans shouting out the lyrics. During the performance the cross bow appears, when fired 2 flares travel above our heads from the stage to the rear of the stadium chased by another flare, truly awesome.
SEHNSUCHT Great intro with the bangs as seen on the LAB DVD with the green lights and flames giving the song an eerie feel. Great song live.
AMERIKA Its Amerika already! My sister says meaning that the encores are fast approaching, too fast! So I give her a slap for saying that!! hehe. Red, white and blue lights and Flake like a demented puppet on his mechanical keyboard scooter rolling across the stage! Red, white and blue ticket tape being blown out onto the crowd at great speed that sticks to your skin and discolours it, also the ticket tape was coming out of the back of the stadium, when you look up you can't see anything only the colour you are being rained on.
(ENCORE 1)
RAMMSTEIN No flameproof coat this time and Till's pyros didn't fail him. Very eerie watching the search lights above our heads and into the night sky and down again.
SONNE Yellow lights, fast intro, great song great live. Till doing his usual, banging his right fist on his right thigh, ooh lovely, still strong thighs umm umm.
ICH WILL Fans went mad as soon as we heard the intro. We just couldn't wait to shout out the crowd response and see all the hands go up. A great moment and great to have been a part of it.
(ENCORE 2)
OHNE DICH Beautifully written, Apocalyptica were guests for this song standing next to Schneider eitherside. To give it a well rounded enchanting sound. Till rests his head on Flake's shoulder for the beginning. Ahh. Everyone singing to a great tune.
STRIPPED Hate it when they play this one because its the last of the night! But excellent live 'we wanna see you stripped' as we point and shout at the Ramm boys. Out comes the dingy and its the lovely Oli that is the captain of his ship, excellent balance by the way! As this is going on we spot, no joke, Till and Flake having a good old chin wag like 2 old ladies and laughing, yes did I hear you say laughing, yes laughing! Perhaps they are still hungover from Richard's birthday the day before.
As the last note dispenses into the night air, we are left hungry for more as Till, Richard, Schneider, Paul, Oli and Flake take a well deserved bow, do they realise that we haven't had enough?! he he. We don't want them to go!
But we haven't got long until we see them again.... tomorrow night waahey!!
As we leave the stadium to a version of 'Engel' we head towards the train where we are all in a daze by the sheer magnificance of the show. Blimey how can we possibly sleep after this!!!
We did take some memento's from the gig a couple of lovely Rammstein beakers with their logo and tour dates and our asses pinched from the hunky german male fans ha ha ha ha.
Bis bald!!!
